interior psychology tip: shop locally

shopping locally triggers a feel good factor. when we shop locally, whether from our neighbourhood, city or country, we feel part of a community, leading to feelings of acceptance, safety and calm. this may be rooted in an evolutionary need to feel part of a tribe or clan, for resources and protection; members of the tribe/clan feel safe and secure, whereas the reverse is true for non-members. regularly using or displaying locally bought items reinforce the feel good factor we felt when we first bought the item.

the looming uk recession serves as a great reminder to consider who we give our money to. by shopping locally, we support our neighbours and local communities, which benefits both our local and national economy.
