heal’s x bintabueh edit

a little back story: when i first bought my flat in 2016, i spent all my money on the deposit and mortgage. it left me with little money to furnish the space, so i started working two jobs and buying secondhand furniture on eBay and gumtree. the first piece of furniture i bought was a secondhand ikea bed frame for £40 - i couldn’t even afford brand new ikea at this point!

the search for secondhand furniture was my first introduction to furniture design. if i was going to part with my money i wanted the furniture to be as beautiful as it was functional - it needed to tick all the boxes! i started searching for iconic british midcentury brands like ercol and g-plan, which lead to me to the lesser known british designer gordon russell. a couple of months after i bought my flat, i bought my first investment piece: a gordon russell dining table and six chairs from a vintage seller on ebay for £500 (if you follow me on instagram you’ll recognise the set i’m talking about!). six years later i love it as much now as the day i bought it. unlike my impulsive high street purchases, it was the one piece of homeware that stood the test of time. i quickly realised that buying investment pieces was a more sustainable and economical way for me to shop. rather than making impulsive, often trend led, purchases, i did my research, shopped around, saved up, and only bought things i reeeeally loved.

enter heal’s. heal’s is the real life version of my fantasy home moodboard. its full of my favourite furniture and homeware brands, including vitra, flos and ferm living, as well as their own in-house designs and lesser known emerging artists and designers. the glue that holds them altogether is the high quality design and craftsmanship, that will not only stand the test of time, but maintain its value if you decide to sell it later.

this season i’m working with heal’s on my most exciting project to date! i’ve created an edit of their new a/w 2022 pieces that are synonymous with my style; a collection of neutral colours, timeless designs and recycled materials. below are some of my favourite pieces or you can shop the full edit here x
